Vans Book: Video Chapters

Mark June 1st on your calendars as Vans readies for the release of a very special book. Outlining one of the most iconic skate and lifestyle brands around, Vans’ history surely leaves no shortage of educational and cultural gems. In a ramp-up to the release, a series of videos have been created covering various aspects of the book. Among the initial videos include Birth of Icons which documents some of Vans’ early history and a video on the notable Steve Caballero and his effect on the skate world. As mentioned, the book drops June 1st with the videos available for viewing at Vans.com/VansBook.

The first day of summer, June 21st, is one of the most recognized days for skaters - it’s Go Skateboarding Day! Even those who haven’t skated in a while are beckoned by their skate homies to take some time out and hit some spots. For this year’s Go Skateboarding Day, the IASC (International Association of Skateboard Companies) commissioned none other than Steve Caballero to do the artwork for their campaign posters and t-shirts.

Legendary skate pro Steve Caballero sat down to chat about the evolution of his signature sneaker lineup with Vans. Mostly interesting is the transformation from the original full cab into the now iconic half cab silhouette. Steve also mentions his favorite colorway and how the half cab came about. As part of the Vans Spring/Summer 2009 Collection, the Sk8 Hi comes in four bright patent leather options. Each Sk8 Hi features several colors on the upper, all coming in patent leather. The pack is now available at ABC-Mart.

Skating In Bubbles : Burnquist Aero Chocolate Bar Spot

Nestlé Aero chocolate bar has produced a new advertising spot. The chocolate bar is filled with bubbles of air and that has been translated into a pool skate session. Definitely a pretty cool commercial.

Nike Skateboarding - P.Rod III Video

Thanks to Nice Kicks we have a video of the upcoming P.Rod III Nike SB sneaker. The third P.Rod seems its a little slimmed down and has a better board feel than the previous sneakers. Stay tuned as more information develops.

Slam City Skates x Nike SB Pop-Up Shop

Having previously worked together a few years ago on a Dunk Low SB, the long-serving Slam City Skates out of London announces a special spot in their downstairs. Nike SB is set to take over the basement space serving both as retail point and gallery. Starting up during the opening is part one of a three part photography exhibit featuring Percy Dean, Jerome Campbell, Henry Kingsford and Sam Ashley. Updates for part two and three will take place in May and July respectively.

Manik x Sub Pop Records

Manik gets together with Seattle record label Sub Pop, which is responsible for bands such as Nirvana, Soundgarden and others. They collaborated on a series of t-shirts and of course also some skateboard decks. The four t-shirts and give skateboard decks are now available at Goods.
